OK, I went to 2 shops tonight. First one sells Viper, had no literature
on the showroom floor, and no one could be bothered to acknowledge my
existence. They have a buzzer on the door, yet no one even came out of
the back room when I came in. I know no one who has dealt with these guys.

Second shop had a Code Alarm brand unit that looked good. 2-stage shock
sensor, 121-decibel siren, integrates w/ my power locks, 800' range,
good stuff. $200. He showed me some press that said that DC is using
this company's product on the '04-'05 Chrysler/Dodge minivans &
Pacificas, and they also come on several other makes (including, quite
possibly, Marci's Hyundai). A friend sent me to this shop and was very
happy with their work.

What's the real price on the EVS-II, how many hours to install, and what
does it *really* have included in it? Does it still have the same crap
range that my RKE has? I *hate* that I have to be within 40 feet of my
truck to lock the doors or use the horn/flashing lights to help me find
it. If I'm within 40' of my truck, I'm going to be able to eyeball it.

After fighting my way through Mopar's terrible website, it looks like
the EVS-II system is $155, plus $59 for the wiring harness. Plus
installation. And the only thing it'll give me over the Code Alarm
system is a starter interrupt. Which I'm not terribly concerned with.

I still need to talk to a shop that deals w/ Viper systems and will
actually talk to me.

Things I will not do:
        Buy a POS "Club"
Put stickers on my windows & an LED on the dash, with no actual alarm
system. Once someone tests for a motion sensor and comes up w/ no
response, they'll really want in.
