The 3.9 Core for my NEW Performance build up had a Blown Belly pan gasket as
there was a lot of oil in the bottom of the intake.

That 3.9 only has about 20K or so on it, so it could very well be possible
that the Belly pan is causing it .....the oil get's in the chamber thru the
intake valves and lowers the Octane level of the gasoline and you
get........ping..ping..ping!

it can sound like low level machine gun fire inside the engine, and if it
gets bad enough the head gaskets give up.......
