As luck would have it, my Dak is sitting about 50 feet from me
right now. :-) Looks like the outside diameter of the pulley
is about a sixteenth of an inch more than 2.5". I didn't take
the belt off, so I couldn't measure down where the belt actually
runs, but it would probably be a quarter of an inch less than
that. So, it looks like it may be (for all practical purposes)
the same as a '97+ alternator pulley. (Assuming of course that
a '97+ alternator pulley is 2.5" - I've never measured one myself.)
BTW, I just pulled my stock alternator pulley off the shelf, and
its about a quarter of an inch wider in diameter than the pulley
currently on the truck. Funny, for some reason I thought there
was a bigger difference than that, strange how time will distort
things. :-) Anyway, I do know that it helped. (BTW, the diameter
of my stock pulley, as measured right down in the bottom of the
grooves, is 2.5". The outside diamter is a sixteenth more than
2.75".) So, depending on how the 2.5" diamter figure for the '97+
pulley is being measured, it may or may not do the trick for you. :-)
I hope that helps!
