Backfire (through tailpipe) on decel is fairly common when there is a small
exhaust leak. Check all exhaust fittings and connections. The leak is
probably up toward the front of the system. Manifolds, y-pipe section are
the most likely places.

A front fire (thru TB) is more likely if there is an intake leak, or the
timing is off quite a bit.

Either condition can also be caused by a valve that is hanging up in its
guide as well. Have you changed rockers, heads, etc recently? If so, you
may want to backtrack on the work.
