Turbolator exhaust tips: fact or fiction?

Anyone know if these provide any real benefit at all?

The guy at Speedy Muffler was talking about how well they work when I
was in there this morning. I think they look like BS myself. Just
wondering out of curosity if anyone knows anything about them.
