What year, and is it a 4x4 or 2WD?
Depending on the year & setup, the standard tank size is only about 16
gallons as I recall. With these trucks...that isn't nearly enough
(after 3 days of commuting, I put 20 gallons into my Dak and 11 gallons
into my Acclaim). Dodge did finally figure this out and dropped the
small tank a couple years ago.
Low tire pressure, even by a couple pounds, will make a big difference
on economy.
I never fully trust a fuel gauge, and once I've learned the car or truck
for a couple weeks, I go by how many miles I've put on the tank, not
where the needle points. For example, my low gas light used to come on
with 6-7 gallons left in the tank - last time I filled up, I had 4.5
gallons left and the light still hadn't come on. Go out to the gas
station and fill the tank, then figure out the mileage.
