Nope, probably what is showing is just our "old timer-ness"
(and/or possibly your relative newbie-ness). :-) Back in the
late 70s and early 80s when these vehicles started to become
popular, they were trikes - 3 wheelers, which were called "All
Terrain Cycles", or ATCs for short. At some point, the gov't
decided to stick its nose into everyone's business yet again
and decree that 3 wheelers were too unsafe to build anymore,
after which point 4 wheelers took over. I guess the nomenclature
changed to ATV since the 4 wheelers didn't look too much like
cycles.
For those of us who have "been there, done that, got the
t-shirt" though, its a bit difficult to change our ingrained
thought patterns. :-) "Hey you kids, get your ATC off my lawn!"
