People often over estimate (as Bill pointed out in the pinging
thread) the effect of mpg changes.
I'll do it the long way for clarity:
Old cost = $ 1.5 / 17 miles = $ .088 / mile
New cost = $ 1.5 / 18 miles = $ .083 / mile
So you save ~ .5 cents per mile.
$100 / .005 = 20,000 miles !
For reference only: cost for 20k miles = $1.5 * 20k / 17 = $1,764
