Hey, Andy,

<snip> Anyone have a ballpark figure for what it would cost to replace the
head
gaskets in a '93 Acclaim V6? Parts & labor. How does the difficulty
rate on the "do it yourself" meter?<snip>

You can do it, but it'll take a day's worth of effort - with the right
tools...
You'll need a garage with a LOT of counter space...As you disassemble the
top of the engine, clean stuff & put stuff on the counter, starting from one
end...mark any tubes/hoses/vacuum lines & their connection points with
matching colored twist ties...
When you get the heads off, scrape all surfaces clean (top of engine, bottom
of heads) & look closely for your blow-by points...see if there are any
cracks...if there are, get new heads...get new head bolts, too, even if the
heads are ok...
Also, if you have access to a good surface plate, run an indicator along the
heads to see if they're still flat...
Reassemble the engine, starting at the other end of the counter, matching up
the twist ties...
Disassembly will take a couple of hours, reassembly...maybe twice that...

Maybe Bernd can getcha a .pdf of the sequence from the dealer he works at?
