Subject: DML: DML BBQ Recap for Friday
Friday has passed into the hitory books of the DML BBQ of 2004.
Andy arrived with Marci ... she is real!! Andy has good taste :) Today
saw
more parts running for Mikes Dakota. We were still unable to locate brake
parts as this axle seems to have an oddball two peice brake caliper set up.
Autozone only sells HALF the caliper... and the other half seems rather
difficult to track down. Mike's lead on a rolling chassis fell through - as
the owner of the frame and suspension, never got back to us.
As Walt reported earlier, there was an unannounced mudrun this AM while most
people were still groggy and decafinated.
Upon return from parts running - we discovered two of my mud tires and two
of
Mikes Yokos - rolled out by the road with a for sale sign listing an asking
price of $20! Mike's air cleaner on his Ram Charger was painted Hemi Orange
as
well.
We decided that another mud run was in order. Around 5:45 pm we rolled out.
Much to the shock of everyone (yeah right) - I put my two good mud tires on
the
front of my Ram, and aired down! Mike, Andy, and Marci in the Ram charger,
Neil
in his Dak, -- Adam, Jackie, Ed, and Josh in Adam's Jeep... Walt and Ingrid
in
Walt's 88 Dak, and myself and Jason in the Ram... We churned through the
trails
for a while and ended up at the Upper Waterfall.
Walt, Adam, and Mike tried climbing the Waterfall. Walt tried the
traditional
path and got too close to the hole of water and backed down. The 2nd time he
came so close, to be stopped by his rear differential getting hung up on the
ledge. Walt tried a different line.
Adam tried the same line and made many nice scrapes in his tire sidewalls,
but
didn't make it up. Mike tried as well and made wonderful progress in
e\blowing
apart his double cardan joint on his front drive shaft.
Shinanigans followed after the vehicular carnage. The First Annual DML BBQ
Rock Skipping Contest took place. We have some video.
On the way back up Washout Hill, leaving the upper waterfall... I got stuck
with the Ram. I got hung up on a tree stump. With spotting assistance from
the group, I was able to manuver around the obstical and successfully made
it
back to the Barn. Everyone had a wonderful time wheeling today. The runs
went very well without carnage.
Andy and Marci unfortunatly had to leave today due to prior comitments that
they have to attend to on Saturday. We were sad to see them go. Its not a
DML
BBQ without them!
Pizza was ordered... K as in King, I as in King..... wait - wrong meet
report...
The rest of the evening was spent eating and drinking around the bondfire -
telling hysterical stories and experiances.
I AM THE SEAT BELT KING!!!!!
I had a wonderful day - and I am looking forward to SCORE showing up
tomarrow.
The Pit is VERY full of water and was not drained. So far Mike is the only
one
to have braved The Pit so far.
While I anticipate tomarrow... I am also not looking forward to it. For the
fact that it means the DML BBQ will be over for another year.
