Was out & about yesterday and stopped by my local stealer to see what he
had. Turns out...1 '05 QC 4x4 on the lot, in Atlantic Blue.
It's low. Real low. It was parked next to an '04 QC 4x4 and the '04
towered over it.
Too many angles on the front end. The bed, they got right.
Dash layout - too few gages. I give it 3 more years then we'll have a
speedometer and a generic idiot light. 4x4 knob was over where the
airbag shutoff was on my '99 (maybe even farther to the right) -
inaccessible, especially if you have a manual. I thought the knob on my
'03 was in a bad spot, this is beyond bad. "Dangerous" comes to mind.
Plastic! Everywhere! The rockers were plastic-covered, and that plastic
extended up the rear of the cab about 10 inches. No external steel that
I could find on the front either (to be fair, my '03 has a plastic cover
over the steel, but it's a wrapper). Felt flimsy.
This was an SLT. The salesguy knew nothing of the ST or Laramie
trimlines. I didn't get inside the truck, nor under the hood.
The hydroform frame (aka "boxed", I love marketing) looked fairly stout,
but too much stuff crammed under everywhere.
I saw some very obvious,very large paint drips in the right rear fender.
~ Never should have passed body inspection IMO.
Gary, enjoy your new Dak. It's just not for me. I'll be sticking w/ my
GenIII for a while.
Oh, they had an '05 Grand Cherokee hidden at the far end of the lot. I
didn't check it out, but it doesn't look like it has the trail
capabilities that its predecessors had.
