I had that and it was the Speed Sensor in my auto transmission. It would
never shift out of first and I never pushed it hard enough to do so. It
cost me $30 at the local dodge dealer.

You may need to get a special socket or wide wrench to get it out. If
you're fast enough, less than a quart of trans fluid will come out.
