Is it a full-on backfiring? My 92 3.9L, my bros 88 Cheby 305 and dad's 72
350 will all make a horrible racket if the engine is brought down from upper
RPMs. All have loud exhausts. If I downshift my auto into 2nd at around 35
or lower MPH, it'll make some gunshot like sounds. I always believed it was
the pressure equalizing in the pipes, as there might be a bit of a vacuum
created as the tranny pulls the RPMs down.
