Now I do most of my play indoors, we're not allowed to have electronic
trigger frames, just standard stuff. I was pretty die hard for a long time
and I've never owned one, even one I was playing outdoors all the time. I
did have a sweet (and highly modded) Odyssey Mechanical Cocker but I've
since sold it because I'm not playing in a league anymore, and I needed the
money. I've since picked up a Pirhana that I've used since 2003 (after a
year and a half hiatus) and play with it all stock. It's more than adequite
for the amount that I play (maybe twice a month, all day each time).

I've never owned anything but a mechanical marker, and even with a cocker
playing speedball (all you do is empty hopper after hopper) I've never had
any issues because I was using CO2. I played on a league with it, which I'd
constitute as "serious" play and never had any issues. Perhaps the
difference is in your setup vs mine.
