Unless you used the wrong bolts, the caliper mounting bolts can't rub.
Check your brake shields - just a little bend in them can cause
grinding/scraping noises.

Hmm - Don't see how that could be the problem. The caliper pins are
designed to stop at a certain depth and not go in any further. As I am yet
to dive into trying to fix the grinding problem - I'm not ruling anything
out yet. But I have a nagging feeling it is something major...
