Re: Brake rotors??

So far I'm thrilled with my Power Slot rotors on my '97. I went with the
'base' model, not the 'Plus' or 'Cryo' models. (The Tire Rack doesn't think
the 'Cryo' model is any improvement over the 'Plus' model anyway, and they
said that the 'Plus' model is for continual high-heat applications such as
racing.) I haven't yet towed with them, but I've pushed them pretty hard
just to test them and I'm very happy with the subtle control I have during
braking and cornering. I've heard that less than one half of one percent of
Power Slot rotors are returned to the factory, and I've also heard that
they WILL NOT warp.

The one possible mistake I made was sticking with my Porterfield R4-S pads
(of course, I ordered new ones to bed into the new rotors). While those
pads were awesome on the stock rotors, I think they're somehow too much for
the Power Slot rotors, or they're just an odd match or something. Power
Slot recommends the Hawk (same manufacturer as the Porterfields?) HP Plus
or HPS pads; I'd go with the HP Plus next time (I've heard the HPS can be
real noisy). The HP Plus is comparable or just half a step down from the
Porterfield R4-S pads, I think, but a different compound that is more
compatible with the Power Slot rotors.
