Well here's the deal...the 46RH/RE only has 2 points to take up endplay so
some movement of the output shaft is to be expected. Yours is a bit much but
then again I have seen a lot worse.

Not sure how many of you have actually grabbed the output shaft on 46RH,
but...

Is there supposed to be any play in the output shaft if you push/pull on the
yoke?

I'm getting like .070" to .100" in play if you look at the movement of the
yoke.

If this amount is too much play, what exactly in the OD section is going
bad?
