just a brief synopsis of the page. differences are:
pistons
injectors
knock sensors (2 vs. 1)
oil pressure
PCM
spark plugs (very important, apparently)
exhaust valves (apparently, the intake valves are the same)
cams
valve springs
crankshaft (forged vs. cast)
main bearings
intake manifold became standardized in 2003+ models
piston pins (full float vs. pressed pin)
thanks for the link to that page. look below for the different dyno graphs
DC put out on that engine
HO- http://www.wjjeeps.com/misc/curve_47h.jpg
SO- http://www.wjjeeps.com/misc/curve_47.jpg
amazingly, the torque curve on the 4.7L SO is much smoother (although not as
high as the HO model, it's a flatter curve, versus the HO's peaky torque
curve). however, the 30hp difference between the two engines is pretty
impressive considering the small displacement of the engine (.92hp/ci vs.
.82hp/ci, or a 13% increase in power). if only DC could really develop a
good powerhouse out of this engine, DC could have a good competitor to the
Mustang's 4.6L SOHC (3-valve) engine. i've heard something about DC moving
to a 3-valve head (ala the newest ford offerings) on this engine. that
would be sweet! i'd also think a 4.7L option on the upcoming Challenger
would be a nice addition (affordable small block, with a 5/6-speed for
tearing it up), with the HEMI as the top engine in the stable (which, of
course, DC would kill as an automatic-only engine).

Since the HO 4.7 was first used in the Jeeps, here's the best comparison
I've found...

There are a lot of internal differences that you can't just "bolt on"!
