yeah andy,

I ran a test tool to check hard drive, it said 10,000 "on-time" hours which is ok for a
laptop that old. and I tested the pixels with a simple video test tool that fills the
screen with red, then blue, then green. i did see any dead pixels.

yeah, i asked the guy about and extra battery and he threw one in on the deal. ;-)

the tool I used was "UBCD4WIN" thats ultimate boot CD 4 windows. its a free .iso image
so you need to burn the image to a CD. then you can boot directly from it. it has
"system info" tools, "hard drive check" tools and some "virus scanner" tools.

so far the laptop has been a pretty good buy. no trouble with it. former owner was a
lawyer-type and he took good care of it.
