Thanks for your knowledge on this matter.
The reason why I thought it was the TPS is because when it's cold sometimes
I will put my foot down on the gas pedal slightly, to open the butterfly
valves a little, and start the truck and as soon as it is started take my
foot off the pedal. The revs will go up a
little higher than normal but thats expected, and after that no problem with
sputtering.

I made a mistake, there is no black soot coming out when running, it's just
that the inside of the tailpipe seems covered more than normal, than I've
seen in my 40 years of owning vehicles.

I only have 63,000 Km on my truck which works out to 40,000 miles, but maybe
the front O2 sensor has bit the dust.
