pretty scary, isn't it?

I would check the wiring in the column before going after the
multifunction switch. I have the low beam wire pulling out of the
harness plug... when I kept my steering wheel all the way up it worked
fine, if I tilted it down my low beams would flake out. I put a new
wire and connector in the plug block about 1.5" longer but I've had the
problem a couple times since with my low beams not wanting to come on.
It hasn't happened more than 3-4 times since I "fixed" it so I haven't
investigated further yet, I'm expecting that the contact I put into the
plug is trying to pull out....

Check it out before you pick up parts it might be something similar....
