In November of 04 Eric Luce asked about installing a used rear axle on his 2wd
1999 so as to convert to disc brakes. I’ve a 1999 4wd, fitted w/ a 8 1/4 “axle
3.55 gears and an open diff. (231 HD transfer case and a 44 RE trans). I need
to convert to a limited slip and have been thinking about upgrading to disc
brakes, just as Eric was thinking. Sounds like this can be done by locating a
02 or 03 axle out of a 4wd.
If I can find a 9 ¼, will that bolt in?
Anyone happen to have part numbers, or know of a shop in the Washington DC area
that can do this project?
