How about gray or white smoke? Black smoke would be gasoline. 300
miles/half quart, yeah, I would say that's a little excessive, but not as
bad as the GF for sure.
Go rub your finger, (or use a towel) to the inside of your tailpipe and see
if its greasy..it should be or you have one good leak going.

I'm not using as much oil as Josh's GF but I'm kinda thinking using 1/2
quart of oil for 300 miles driven is a little much for an engine with only
45,000 miles on it. Haven't noticed any black smoke out the pipe at all.
