Ok, so nobody gave some specifics, I will chime in on this one.

I am currently putting together my own complete exhaust ( minus the y-pipe ) system on
the cheap. This is what I got so far:

(note: the following info is for the 1992 thru 1996 Dakota with V8 or V6 )

Walker/DynoMax #55150 Catalytic Converter, 3" in, 2.75" out,
Direct-fit replacement. So it has about 2 feet of pipe welded to the inlet of cat and
about 2.5 ft of pipe welded to the outlet.
  $154 Summit

Walker/DynoMax #17443 "Super Turbo" Cat-Back Exhaust Kit 2.75" in/out
Comes with intermediate pipe, Super Turbo muffler, hangers and tail pipe.
  $120 Summit

Gibson #500372 stainless tip exhaust tip, 2.75" inlet, 3.5" outlet, 12" length
  $49 Summit
