As some folks are now departing for the meet, a couple of loca= l
updates:
Weather has been WET here since 1st of July - we're r= ecieved
something like 4-5 inches of good, soaking rain. Very good news fo= r
us natives here, where a full-blown drought was in process.
How thi= s affects the meet....
good newz - 1. most (but not all) fire restrict= ions have been lifted
- campfires are definitely on! 2. mud has certainly b= een born in
some lower areas. 3. everything is quickly greening up & look= ing
veddy purdy.
bad newz - 1. streams are running fast & full - be = very careful if
crossing while offroading. 2. Some roads are closed here = & there due
to washouts, mudslides or unstable rocks. Rt. 67 between Woodl= and
Park & Deckers (our proposed back route to Denver) washed out in
severa= l places. Closed indefinitely.
Reason is that this year's monso= ons have arrived early & are much
more wet than usual. We're about at the = end of the 1st wet wave,
which will follow with 7-10 days of clear, dry & h= ot (mid-90's
forecast from Wed beyond here.) Pattern will have things reve= rt back
to wet later - hopefully after the meet.
