well....
I crushed the oil pan...
I has just finished putting the wheels on, I lowered the rear end on the
ground off the jack stands... and went to lower the front. Now heres
the disclaimer part. I was using a 6x6 block of wood, about foot and a
half long, between the frame and the jack. I needed to do this to get
the height I needed to raise the truck off the stands. I have done this
DOZENS of times over the years and never never ever had a problem.
Until tonight.
Truck slipped off the stand and fell down on the jack. Jack cought a
million to one shot and happened to land just where the oil pan drops
down for the pick up tube (rear sump) Crushed it. I don't know how bad
it is. I'm afraid to start it for fear it pushed the pick up tube up
and could hit the crank.
So guess what I'm doing?
Giving up?
Running home crying to mamma?
I'm having her flatbed towed to the shop that I was taking her to anyway
for an alignment... and going to have them change the oil pan in
addition to the other stuff I needed them to do.
