=20 I just dropped off my rims at the shop, my tires will be in
tomorrow, and I= 'll pick them up, mounted, after work. Definitely a
good thing since that = means I won't have to make a special trip up
to Littleton next week just to= pick them up.
On the down side, no news on the spacers I want t= o run in back,
which means I'll have some clearancing of the rims to do, wh= ich I
didn't want to have to do. Long story short, the H2 rims are 8 on 6.=
5 but with a smaller center bore than normal. They are probably in the
4.7= 5" neighborhood, and they have a nice lip that's easy to hand
grind to at 5= ", however my rear needs 5-1/8" center bore. I was
hoping to just get some= spacers to take care of that issue and even
out my track width, but no dic= e on that so far, so I'll be doing a
little backside freehand clearancing o= n the rims over the weekend so
I can get my truck looking non-laughable aga= in.
I've also got (another) broken motor mount. I totally forgo= t that I
hadn't reinforced it since I put it in on my Tellico trip, and it'= s
now in two pieces. The roads around Denver aren't just punishing me,
but= breaking my truck too (they come in two flavors: brand new and
cobblestone= s-would-be-smoother, so it seems).
If I can't find a way of we= lding that up, I'll have to refrain from
really leaving the pavement. I do= n't trust my header to stay
attached to the head in an offroad situation if= the exhaust and
steering shaft have a hard collision, and that's really th= e last
thing I need. It'll be bad enough if I can't fix it and end up rubb=
ing a hole in my header....
So, todo:
* open up rim c= enters a bit more with hand file/reamer + cordless
drill
* fix = motor mount. a few options
+ find Dodge dealer with replacement mount= in stock. swap
mounts, hope replacement holds for remainder of trip (simp=
lest, and it's a cheap part)
+ drive truck to shop, pull mount, weld = up, reassemble
+ drive truck to shop, position motor & mount where th= ey
belong, weld up (certainly fastest, may not be good enough
weld to hold)=
+ drive to Lone Duck, pull mount, beg ride to welder, weld,
drive ba= ck, reassemble
hmm....
