There have been many occasions where I've been on the highway and been
startled to be passed by a couple cruising along on thier very quiet
Road King or a stealth, shaft-drive couch-on-wheels Goldwing or Bimmer.
While I generally find the sound of staight pipes to be rather annoying,
I have to agree that "straight pipes save lives". It gets me to see what
the racket is all about and lets me know that there is a bike in the
vicinity.
