I've bought two vehicles brand new.

First one was a 94 Ford Ranger 4-cy;. I drove it until I paid it off and
the 5 year warranty ran out. Then found I needed $2000 worth of suspension
and transmission work. I traded it in for the Dakota. Probably the
smartest move I ever made.

I paid my truck off in 48 months and have been without a truck payment for
the last 2 years. Not having the payment helped me save enough to buy my
house.

After almost 127k miles, I have no intention of trading the truck (unless
the yearly repairs get over $3000). Last year was my most expensive service
year; having spent over $1600 in Ball Joints, Tie Rods, Transmission gasket,
power steering hoses, 4 shocks, fan clutch, and front driveshaft repairs.

In the meantime, I've been quitely shopping for a gas saver or a small 2
seater convertible I can play around with in the summer.
