That's normally a first sign of the plenum starting to leak. Other things
it could be are valve seals on the sludged up cylinder(s).

Yes, there's sludge on the top side of the valve cover baffle, oil/light
sludge in the PCV valve and PVC line. So I assume there's some in the intake
but couldn't see any with a flashlight through the TB.
