Just checking.
To be honest, without actually hearing it up close, it's hard to say what
the tapping noise is. If you know the valvetrain is all in order (TQ'd to
spec on the rockers), what's the oil pressure at idle, 2000, and 4000rpm?
Also, what about the lifters...are they the stock ones and how many miles on
them?

The position you said was correct, with the "arrow" up. The arrow turned
out to be one side of the dog bones that was ground down a bit to make a
small slope.
