You may want to take this into either a dealership or a reputable shop to
get a second opinion on the noise. Last question though: you mentioned
some porting work done on the heads...what was exactly done?

I haven't put a mechanical dial gauge on the oil pressure, but there is
plenty of flow at idle. Enough that I have to use valve covers with the
tops removed to keep oil from pouring out of the back corner of the heads at
idle. The dash gauge shows an increase in oil pressure when the rpms is
raised, so I am assuming that the pressure is fine there as well. The
rockers are torqued to 21 ft-lbs and have been verified by two different
torque wrenches. The lifters are brand new stock replacement roller lifters
with about 500 miles on them now.
