Doubt it...most all dealerships use ATF+4 regardless (unless it's an older
Jeep Cherokee).

Yup...wrong fluid - ATF+4 is backwards compatible though and 5qts in a 16qt
system isn't going to cause that big of a problem at all. Was the fluid
changed regularly before the service was performed? Reason for asking is
that anytime you change fluid on high-mileage vehicles, and the fluid wasn't
changed regularly, you're opening up a whole new can of worms (problems).
The dirty fluid can be sealing up hidden issues and when it's changed out,
those issues present themselves (seen that happen too many times).
What's the line pressure at idle and up to 20-30mph? Were the bands
checked? What was in the pan and on the magnet when the fluid was changed?

Well, for one thing, they put the wrong fluid in, which could be your
problem. It should be ATF+4. That is a major difference for our trucks.

Well...I bought the truck in Sept. 2003 so I have no history for it before
that.
When I had the fluid/filter changed at 269,000km (167,000mi) I have a
feeling
that all they did was replace what came out in the pan as the invoice states
"QTY: 5, ATF+3". I'm not sure what the measure of "5" is. I assume liters,
which is close to US quarts. For $162 they should have changed every last
ounce
of fluid!
I'm just trying to get a few ideas of things I can eliminate before I take
it to
the dealer.
Thanks.
