RE: Engine or transmission? (Bernd,others)

Yup...fluctuating line pressures can cause those issues. If the trans
doesn't go into lock-up properly or can't hold the proper gear selection, it
will feel like surging or missing. Same on #2. Definitely sounds like it
on #3.

What about slipping? Could a problem like the GPS,on
top of the other symptoms, cause the truck to feel like
a bad engine miss or surging under load? Here's a
"refresher" list: (Man,how history repeats itself!)

2003 Dak RC 2WD ext. cab 3.9L 42RE (38k miles)

1) Runs like it's missing really bad. Can't duplicate
the miss in Park at any RPM. I can drive the truck
over a bumpy road,and I swear it'll clear up for a
while. All kinds of power! Then it goes bad again.

2) When kicked into passing gear,TC will sometimes
lock about a second later.

3) Back off gas to get it to upshift to 4th,especially
on hills. Doesn't happen as bad on level ground with
moderate acceleration.

That's it! I'm not sure problems 2 and 3 are related
to 1. It seems to me that even when the Dak runs good
and strong (rare),the other two things still happen.
Not sure though.

Thanks! Steve P.

P.S. At least my 4.7 Dak runs good!
