I had complained enough to the point of telling them to cancel the deal. I
had custom ordered a new truck - 38 miles isn't new. (Helped to know the GM
though)

When I ordered my '96 Dak, it was built around October of 1995 and
got trapped in a train yard due to some stupid union or another going
on strike (I think it was a trucking company). Anyway, the cars were
stranded at the rail depot an hour away and couldn't be delivered to the
dealerhips. (Or more correctly, "wouldn't" be delivered to the
dealerships.) My dealer just went up to the yard with a a couple of
vans full of guys and drove the cars back to the dealership. That was
a bit of a bummer in that the initial miles were higher than they
normally would be, but at least it meant I could take delivery of the
truck. I didn't get a $1200 check, either. :-( ;-)
