Sounds like a ground issue but take a look at the CTM (Central Timer Module)
connectors - it's behind the driver side kick panel. There are three
connectors on the module that are known for collecting water and shorting
out...causing strange problems with interior lights, headlamps, turn
signals, cluster illumination, and other interior electrical problems.

Subject: DML: Old member back with a problem

Hi folks,

It's been quite a while since I've posted but I've kept my subscription to
the list and I do stick my nose in the posts every once in a while just to
see what's going on. I still have my Dak: 98 club cab 5.2 now with 109K
miles. Haven't had any major problems (including transmissions). Couple of
water pumps, couple of cats. Ball joints and sway bar about 20K ago. Loan
was paid off about 4 years ago so I feel I've been playing with the house's
money since then. Gas mileage sucks but hey, what do I expect, it's a 4X4
V8.

Tonight I went to start it up. Panel lights came on and immediately every
light went out. Dead. Now if I turn the key to run the only the light that's
lit is the brake warning light, but very dimly. No sound (not even clicking)
when I turn the key to start. When I open the driver's door the relay for
the interior lights starts clicking and the dome light flickers dimly.
Nothing from the headlights.

At first I thought I blew a fuse but then I started thinking the battery
gave out (it's about 3 years old.) But don't batteries slowly fade away
until one day they don't have enough amps to crank?

Anyone got any thoughts about where to look first?
