Bernd, you never cease to amaze me with your long drawn out posts...

Tim, its not too bad - worse things to work on a neon other than the
alternator.

You'll need to remove the passenger side front tire, pull the plastic
splash guard off, 3-4 screws. The alternator has a mounting bracket
with three bolts into the block. I found its easier to take the
alternator off with that block. There is one adjsuting bolt to take up
belt slack, behind the power steering resivor. Thats going to be teh
hardest because its a blind bolt, and hard to reach. There should be
one more bolt on the back side by the firewall.
