Get a glass of water. Drop a shot glass in so it settles to the bottom. Now
stick a straw in the shot glass. You can drink the water out of the glass
with the straw, until the water level drops to the rim of the shot glass,
right? Now slosh the glass around a bit. You can drink a bit more.
Eventually, there won't be enough left to slosh in to the shot glass.
Your sock may not be exactly like this, maybe the bottom of it is only 90%
plugged, so a little gas still gets through, but I think you'd best plan to
replace it before too much longer.
