I ran ceramics with the stock pads for 70k miles and had almost zero
wear on the pads, but wore the rotors down to the nubs. I am now on
high dollar slotted rotors hoping the wear patterns are a bit more equal...
So, yes, I wouldn't run ceramics without the better rotors...
