RE: WooHoo!! Motor is done at machine shop (finally)

Heheheh...and Hughes charges WAY too much for basic machine work.

I'd rather stick with the 2BBL to keep the air velocity up - while the 4BBL
has a slightly higher volume...the velocity suffers slightly under off-idle
conditions (and the "turtle" doesn't always fix that problem either).
No...the 4BBL M1 isn't available anymore.

First off, egr/non-egr manifold doesn't really make a difference in
performance...just the non-egr one is cheaper if you can find one. :)

As for a 408 manifold....conventional wisdom is the larger the cubic inches,
the larger plenum volume you should have. In other words, the 4bbl
manifold would probably be better. By how much? Who knows. If it were
me, I'd go with a 4bbl manifold and a 4bbl TB. Unfortunately, I don't
think new M1 4-bbl (FI) intakes are still available.

Alternatives I know of are....Edelbrock magnum Air-gap for a carb can be
modified for fuel rails. Hughes Engines does this....and they're real damn
proud of them too! LOL Another alternative is the Edelbrock LA FI
intake. It's a single plane, 4-bbl intake. To use that you would need to
have your heads drilled/tapped for the LA bolt pattern. (Hughes does that
too.)
