YOW! It's not so much as a 'whoosh' as it is a metal-on-metal
sound... It starts as soon as she's running & the sound is
LOUD. It goes away after about 10-15 seconds & doesn't
come back until I shut her down & re-start.
Then it comes back.. <<

Lots of possibilities::

starter staying engaged for a few seconds
front pump (if auto tranny)
Idler or tensioner pulley on serpentine belt
pwr steering pump
alternator
rod/main bearings or lifter clatter from lack of oil

Just have to have someone help you out and start and
restart the truck while you are tenatively listening and
trying to isolate.

Hope it isn't engine bearings or front pump. Either of those
takes money and time to repair.

Good luck..
