Bosch O2 sensors

Ok - to continue the Ford trend here... (sorry)

Couple months ago the check engine light came on the Explorer... O2
sensor circuit slow switching bank 2 sensor 1... OBD II Code P0153

From experiance I gathered that to mean a bad sensor. Typically slow
switching and dead heater circuits mean faulty sensors. As the truck is
nearing 60K - I figured h well - sensor crapped out.

I noticed the sensor connector was hanging down between the trans case
and the shift linkage. I thought that was pretty weird - but I replaced
the sensor and cleared the code. All was good.

Just before the BBQ the code came on again. Same thing. Doubt there
was even 1500 miles on the sensor.

I changed it again tonight and discovered that the factory mounting
bracket (plastic) was busted, so I ziptied the connectors in place
after changing it out again. I did not clear the code this time - I;m
going to wait to see if it goes off. This last time the code came on -
then went away for a couple days and then finally came back and stayed on.

The truck was in an accident back in 03 (NO I WAS NOT even behind the
wheel!!) and I'm wondering if the dealer body shop didnt bust the thing
and just tuck it back up under, instead of fixing it - when they were
working on the body damage. (was hit on the same side as the bad O2 sensor)

Is it possible the unsecured wire harness lead to the OEM sensor
failing, and then the replacement?

Or... and heres what I'm getting to... I've seen posts here on the DML
from people blasting Bosch O2 sensors as crap. From selling parts -
I've seen some come back on warranty too - but not too many. Granted I
honeestly dont sell that many O2 sensors to start with...

I'm inclined to think faulty sensors... however I'm aware things such as
grounds and ECM issues - aside from physical wire harmess damage - can
cause issues. The truck-side of the O2 sensor harness looked fine.
Nothing from the outside looked bad - I have a multi meter - I suppose I
could check them for resistance... connectors were completely clean.

If I didnt have doubts as to the quality of the Bosch sensors, I would
be looking elsewhere... however the Bosch sensor I put in the neon a
couple years ago has operated without issue. The only other sensor I
changed was in Christine... but we all know that truck hasnt been on the
road enough in the last few years to even need an oil change let alone
evaluate an O2 sensor.

Opinions?
