1996, 1997, Late 1999 and 2000-2001 models it seems to work....I know that
the '98 models have issues with the key on/off method.

   I think this is something of a grey area. There appears to be a
period (with the Dakota anyway) somewhere around '97-99 where this
doesn't seem to work on some trucks, but others have claimed it does,
I dunno if it has ever been nailed down for sure. I do know that it
works on my 1996.
