It goes to the purge solenoid on the firewall next to the brake booster.
It's probably a hard plastic line it attaches to, not a metal line. It's
emissions stuff.

On my 97 318, just to the left of the MAP sensor on the TB there is a 2 inch
vac line that is looking pretty cracked. It has a metal line going into it.
Anyone know the ID of this rubber line? And what is the purpose os this vac
line?
