TPS is used as a throttle input to the PCM. It is one of the many inputs
that control the fuel delivery. Basically...throttle angle.
You can easily check the TPS by back probing an ANALOG meter to the TPS
signal and the other lead to ground. Key ON/Engine OFF and slowly press the
throttle (and watch the meter). It should sweep smoothly. If there are any
jumps or "sticking", it's bad.

Thanks for the input Brian and Matt.
Well, I reset the PCM and cruse still takes off like a rocket, Speedo
smooth and matches GPS.
I'll have to study on how to ck the TPS. What else is the TPS used for?
I most likely will have to pull the shaker for that. that is a bit of a pia
but I would like to get it figured out so it is working for the trip to
Carlisle next weekend. I rarely use cruse locally.
If I find anything I'll let you folks know.

Jesus once said to his followers:
Daily you must trust Me, surrendering everything, including the blood in
your veins and the breath in your lungs, for Me to do with as I see fit. If
you want to join up with Me, you must let Me lead. Luke 9:23 (Eric Ludy
paraphrase)
