I have a 2000 Dakota as well. I agree with what you're saying. I would get a ram & keep my dak.

>From what I've seen with them parked side by side, a Ram isn't that much
bigger than a Dakota anymore. Especially when you can still buy a regular
cab Ram, but only options for the Dakota are club cab or quad cab. Add in
the fact that with the 5.7L in the Ram it gets better gas mileage than the
4.7L in the Dak. Many of the reasons people still hold on to buying the
overpriced Dakotas are not valid anymore. If I was buying a truck now I'd
definitely have to go with a Ram. I love my 2000 Dakota and won't give it
up, but no Dakota made since 2004 has appealed to me. Both in styling or
price. Where as the new Rams are just bad ass looking and priced better.
As for the gas mileage, nobody buying a truck to use as a truck should be
worried about gas mileage, and if they are they shouldn't be looking at
Dodge.

I rented a Ram last weekend while my Dak was in the shop. It felt good,
and much taller, but it was somewhat uncomfortable making sharp turns to the
right as all I could see is a massive hood. I did get better gas mileage
with the Ram than my Dak. Now that my Dak is repaired and the computer was
replaced with all updates, it seems to get better gas mileage that it did
before.
