diagnoses of the problem I am having (poor running, missing, etc.)
I just got a call, and they said everything was okay. They couldn’t
find any problems (using the stock SBEC). I asked him did they try the
MP SBEC that I requested that they try too... He said no, they didn’t
have TIME. The truck was ready to be picked up.
I was furious!! I told him to check it out again (with the MP
SBEC), and also what was the outcome of the intermitten wiper that I
ALSO requested they check, as they had worked on it (2) weeks ago...
He said it worked fine, they couldn’t find anything wrong, and it was
within Dodge’s spec.s I asked, “What exactly is Dodge’s spec.s??”
He couldn’t answer. I told him that their was no delay in the
Intermitten mode, and not until I turned the wipers to slow, then off
did they turn off. He said that was normal, that’s why they’re call
Intermitten wipers.
I could have STRANGLED the guy!!!! They had replaced the wiper
switch (and turn signal stalk) 2 weeks ago, but not the wiper ‘relay’.
Ten minutes later he called back asking “What gearing do you have in
your truck??” I told him “3.90, Why?!?” He said “Well I spoke with
the technician, and he says that your rev limiter is coming on too
soon, because you have competition gears.” Blah Blah Blah...
At this point I knew I SHOULD have gone to the other dealer I
normally goto, but went here because of convience. So, now I am
working on a GOOD letter to both the dealer in question, and the So.
Cal. Dodge rep, as this continues to happen at this dealership.
ERRR!!! Maybe I am in the wrong business. I seem to know more
about Dodge trucks that the service center?!??! : ^ )
(I saw this coming yesterday ---Read on)
I picked up my spark plug wire set, distributor cap, and rotor from
the same dealership... I told the lady @ the parts counter the Year
(‘95), Model (SLT), and engine size (5.2l V8 Magnum). As she read
back the year she said “ 1991? “
“No, 1995”
She said “V6 ?”
“No, V8”
When she brought the parts up I opened every box, and checked the
parts before I left the counter. The lady said “What are you doing
that for?” I said “To make sure all of the plug wires are in here,
the boxes were ‘taped’ closed” The first thing I noticed was that the
distributor cap was a ‘clip’ style, and not a screw down style (not to
mention it was for a V6!). Second, the plug wires didn’t have the
large boots on them, and I didn’t even bother looking at the rotor. I
said “Hey, these aren’t the right wires/distributor.” and I explained
why. She said “Nope, this are the correct part numbers for your 1991
Dakota, w/V6!”
Now you know why I am so frustrated with these people!!!
Sorry for rambling, but I thought I would share a moment in “As the
dealership turns”
