If you're looking to buy a bed-cap/topper/shell you'll find:
- fiberglass looks the best
- all brands will be about the same (though I like brahma best) and they
all offer different models.
- It'll be near impossible to find a used one
(I've been searching in Denver for 6 months, and have only found
three, one of which was red (though don't know if it was flame red),
and all were sold the first day (hour!) of the ad).
- A shortbed fiberglass cab-high will run you about $850 painted to match
- Gelcoat (unless you get white) will fade and look bad over time.
- Paint looks better, but will require same care as truck finish.
- Don't let them drill your truck, get clamps instead.
- Locks only keep the honest man honest. If security is your primary
concern, get a unit without windows (utility shell).
I don't know about the seal between the cab and the shell, however. I
haven't found any to 'look good', anybody else ??
