I like them both, but prefer the '91-96 body style.
A friend of mine has a new '97, white, V8 club cab (that's
basically equipt the same as my '95, but with auto & 3.55
gears.

I went for a ride, and it was NICE, almost car like.
Power was good, and had the 'new car' smell inside! He went
for a ride with me (before the headers), and kinda wishes he
got the 5 speed, because of the flexibility...

We did a freeway 50-75 mph side by side 'drag' to see
who pulled ahead of who... I got about 2 car lengths ahead
of him...(4th gear for me, Drive for him)...

Still the larger cab of the '97 is a great plus,
but I don't car for the rear speakers..(at least in the
'96 & older Daks the speakers are 'hidden' behind the
rectangular grills, and blend in better...

Oh well, I'll keep my '95...

        BTW:

Trailer life just had an article with the
'97 V8 4x4 club cab towing a 30' travel trailer (and they
admitted it was a bit much too weight for the DAK rating
wise, but it towed JUST fine... A good article.

Trucking has the street legal fast-truck shoot out in
their current issue... They have the '94 Dakota that
started all of the R/T stuff... 14 second 1/4 mile truck...
In addition a '97 V8 Dakota with the new pending-R/T package
installed... Worth reading for Dakota folks with '97 Dakotas..
Unfortunately, I don't know the status of '96 OBD-II Dakota stuff,
maybe the '97 stuff will be certified for the '96's???
