Oops! Sorry about the post with no subject. Here it is again, with a
subject, just so it doesn't get lost. :) I'm not sure whether its worse
netiquette to post a message without a subject, or to waste bandwidth by
posting it twice. :) Oh well, I'll give it a shot and hope the list
administrator will let this one slide... ;)
Here's the original message: (finally!)
---------
I pulled out an old copy of "Today's Truck & Sport Utility Performance"
magazine that I bought off the newstand over a year ago. They ran
a review of the Dakota sport and had a little information about the
Vortech superchargers for the 5.2 dak and the 5.2, 5.9 ram, so of
course I had to buy a copy. :)
ANYWAY... I was flipping through it and happened across an article
about NOLOGY engineering, which is a company that sells ignition stuff.
Since we've had a lot of discussion about ignition stuff lately, I checked
it out. They ran some tests on a Chevy 350 with a MSD 6AL and AC spark
plugs. Then they did the same tests after changing the spark plugs to
BERU's, and adding NOLOGY HotWires.
Peak horsepower went from 319.5 to 326.8 (@5500rpm), and peak torque
went from 370.6 to 378.4 (@4000rpm). They got an average HP and torque
improvement of almost 1.5%, with peak improvements at 2.3% better. The
maximum cylinder pressure went from 863 to 894 (psi) and the pressure peak
occurred over 1 degree sooner. Fuel consumption dropped by 3%, and the average
EGT was reduced by 37 degrees (over 3%)
This NOLOGY system is listed as costing $175 for 4-cyl. engines, and
$350 for 8-cyl. Out of curiosity, I tried to find a WWW site about them,
and they do have one at http://www.nology.com/, if anyone is interested
in reading about why they say their system is better.
Has anyone heard of this outfit? Would you put this in the "good
investment" or "rip off" category?
Thanks!!
